The New Year Viennese Spectacular returns to Bedford Corn Exchange on Friday 7th January at 7.30pm to celebrate the start of 2011. Forget those credit crunch blues with this exciting show containing a host of romantic music and popular songs. Joining the London Gala Orchestra for the first time for the New Year tour is stunning, rising star soprano Paula Sides. Paula first sang with the L.G.O. last spring. During 2010 she has been singing major roles with English Touring Opera and Opera North. Audience favourite, tenor Lynton Atkinson returns once more after many requests.

It is directed and introduced by Steve Bell who is no stranger to the Bedford audience. Steve is a regular conductor of the BBC’s Proms in the Park concert from Manchester which links in with the London Proms.This show includes Laughing song, Blue Danube, Emperor Waltz, Zampa Galop, Brindisi, and some new little known but enjoyable Strauss waltzes plus a hilarious arrangement of the well known Radetzky March written by both the Strauss brothers where they pull fun at their father’s most celebrated work.

A champagne lottery, special effects and Auld Lang Syne played by our bagpiper make this a show not to be missed.
