Bedford Town Hall Car Park will open to the public for the first time this Saturday.

 
The car park has space for 50 vehicles, including 4 disabled parking bays. It will operate on a similar basis to the Riverside Square car park next door, offering pay and display parking for a maximum of two hours for £1.50.
 
Opening the Town Hall car park to the public on Saturdays was first considered following a recommendation made in the Staff Suggestion Scheme.
 
Chris Pettifer, Head of Transport Operations, Bedford Borough Council, said: “Opening the Town Hall car park will allow us to provide additional town centre parking on one of the busiest shopping days which is good for shoppers and good for the Town.
 
“The Staff Suggestion Scheme was introduced to find greater efficiencies in how the Council works as well as trying to identify new incomes and I am delighted we are able to introduce something which will help to create a bit of extra money as well as providing a welcome service for people who want to visit the town centre.”
