Children, their parents and carers are very important library customers. We want your visit to be as relaxed as possible. You’ll find our staff friendly and helpful.

We can offer…
Picture books, board books and talking books.
Free Internet access.
Virtual Library – recommended websites and free downloads.
Help and advice on choosing books to share with young children.
Information on local activities and childcare.
Books on parenting and childcare.
Holiday activities, rhyme and storytimes.
Group visits.

Bookstart
Ask at your local library how to get your three Bookstart parks. These include free books and tips about enjoying and sharing books with your children.

Don’t worry about… noise or the odd tantrum

Please ask… if your child needs the toilet. Most libraries will let you use the staff toilet and some libraries have public toilets.

Damaged books
If these are books for under 5s and have been borrowed on an under 5s ticket, there is no replacement charge.

Buggies and wheelchairs… are welcome inside the library.

You’re welcome to… breast or bottle feed your baby in the library

Be Safe
Young children using the library remain the responsibility of their parents or carers. Staff will do everything they can to ensure your child’s safety, but they cannot be responsible for unsupervised children.

Join the Library – it’s free!
Just bring along some proof of your address. No proof? You can still borrow four books. It’s free to borrow books and children’s talking books. There is a hire charge for adult talking books, CDs and DVDs.
