Well known to Bedford folk as the shop “which has everything” for DIY or household requirements, Goldings is also a destination store for artists!

In creating her floating artwork for the Bedford College end of year show, student Emma Richardson beat a path along the High Street.

Emma is a mature student who decided on a career change after following a successful career in Marketing with a creative agency in London.  Studying HND in Fine Art, she has explored the notion of Englishness and figurative art.  She explained:
 
“I took my inspiration for my art piece from the lines of crinoline dresses and the movement that design created.  I have also used abstract sound, so that my art shows movement, sound and shape.
 
“I used material from local shops including Goldings hardware shop, where products that may normally be used for DIY are now part of my art !”
