Dynamix mix for music students

Two dynamic music students from Bedford College have successfully bid for work in the highly competitive world of music commissioned for film and tv.

Among the first students to graduate from the Foundation Degree Music Technology course at Bedford College, Lee Head and Lee Verity created promotional material to showcase their work and set up their own production company “Dynamix”.

They were determined to succeed and their hard work and talent paid off when they received a number of commissions including an original musical score for a sci-fi horror short film and a soundtrack for an animation.

Leah Kardos (Music Technology Lecturer) explained that the FdA in Music Technology has been specifically developed to be vocational. The idea is to send students off into the music world so they hit the ground running with ideas and possibilities for work opportunities fresh in their minds.

She says: “I am overjoyed that Lee and Lee have decided to continue their business beyond the assessment we set for them. Their case is what I imagined to be the best scenario to result from the module. I am very proud of these talented students and excited by what they might achieve.”

Lee Verity says: “Although being assessed along the way, we had complete freedom to do what we wished - good and bad - with guided help when needed. Throughout the second semester I kept forgetting we were on a course - it has always felt like a proper business.”

Lee Head is also producer of hiphop-style group “Sons of South”. “All eyes on South” is their first official release and part of their first mix-tape extravaganza. A review by UK Hiphop said: “Sons of South are bubbling with potential. Producer has crafted some solid beats ….look forward to hearing the second volume and catching these boys live. Keep your eyes and ears open because they could be in your town soon.”
