The first page has been turned on a new Bedford Book Festival which hopes to delight literary lovers from those who read children's books and comics to those who enjoy poetry and first editions.
BedfordBID is helping to promote the festival which includes a programme of events from 16 July to 29 August. Special Bedford Book Festival bookmarks are available from participating outlets.
Some events running during the last two weeks of July will coincide with Bedfringe, giving Bedford a festival feel to follow hot on the “tales” of other towns and cities such as Edinburgh, Hay on Wye and Cheltenham.
Activity is being promoted on the internet so:
Click onto www.bedfordbookfestival.co.uk to find out what is happening throughout the summer and join the Bedford Book Festival facebook page to join in the fun.
16 July (2-3 pm): The Bear Public House with Bedfordian Jamie Brindle handing out free copies of 'The Free Book' A book containing three short fantasy/horror stories.
No-one has bought a copy of The Free Book; they have been released into the world without a cost or an owner, with the aim that they are passed from hand to hand and their progress recorded on website. Come along to find out more.
