The specialist children’s shoe fitters opened on Saturday February 28th and is the baby of stockbroker-turned shoe expert Sam Price.
The trendy shop stocks parents’ favourite Start-rite alongside funky kids’ ranges such as Primigi, Ricosta and Lelli Kelly, as well the best in organic babywear and eco-friendly, chemical-free children’s toiletries.
Sam came up with the idea for Angels and Urchins when she moved to Bedford last summer with her family. She was surprised to find the town only offered one children’s shoe shop.
Mum-of-two Sam explains: “There’s some good shopping in Bedford, but it falls short for kids. Other mums were telling me they drove for miles to other towns and cities to buy decent shoes. I was shocked and decided to open my own shop.”
Sam has spent the last few months on an intensive round of shoe-fitting courses and sourcing her stock. She explains: “I’m a mum myself and I know how important it is for kids to have the best start when it comes to shoes. Badly-fitting shoes can damage a child’s feet for life, so fitting has to be right.
“It’s also important to me that our products are ethically sourced and of the highest quality. Angels and Urchins’ aim is to provide stylish, high quality shoes at sensible prices, in a central location which is easy to reach.”
The shop opened on Saturday February 28 at 45 St Cuthbert’s Street, with toys and DVDs to keep the kids entertained and complimentary coffee for parents.
So put your best foot forward and get down to Angels and Urchins!
